We’re incredibly excited to share some news we’ve been keeping under wraps for quite a while… Paintman Paint has supplied the paint for the brand-new Hogwarts Express, soon to appear in the upcoming Harry Potter television series.
Based right here in Retford, our team had the privilege of providing all of the products used to transform locomotive No. 6989 Wightwick Hall into the iconic Hogwarts Express. This historic 1948 Great Western Railway engine has been fully repainted ahead of filming and will take on its starring role when the highly anticipated series launches in 2026/7.
“As a small company, it’s an unbelievable moment for us to know that our paint will be seen by millions of fans around the world,” says Beth Pensom, our Operations Director. “Craftsmanship and heritage are at the heart of what we do, so contributing to such an iconic part of the Harry Potter world is something we’ll never forget.”
Specialising in high-quality, hand-mixed paints for heritage vehicles, classic restorations and historic preservation, this project marks a real milestone for our team. We hope it also shines a spotlight on the skills and dedication found within local British manufacturing.
We can’t wait to see the newly finished Hogwarts Express on screen – and to know that a little bit of Paintman magic is travelling with it.
