Authenticated shade from original components. In Gloss Engine Paint enamel.

Description

Land Rover Series 2/2A Engine Blue. This is the colour used on Series 2/2A 2.25 litre Petrol and Diesel engines between 1960 – 1971. During the cross over from the Series 2 2 litre and Series 2A 2.25 litre, if a reconditioned, or new replacement cylinder head was fitted, these tended to come painted in the new 2.25 engine blue instead of the earlier 2 Litre engine grey.

Paintman Paint’s Engine Blue shade was matched against an original 2.25 petrol engine from the early 1960s, and checked against a 2 litre engine retro-fitted with a reconditioned Cylinder Head later in it’s life. This head was as stated in the later colour. The accuracy of the colour shade was corroborated by a Series 2 Club member, who was present at the time of the final colour shade decision.

Type of Paint

Additional information of interest

  • Spray application. All of our Enamels will need to be diluted by around 5-10% using Paintman Coach Enamel Thinners, thus ensuring the highest quality finish and maintaining correct drying times.
  • Surface Preparation. Prior to painting ensure all surfaces are clean and dry to remove any contaminants. We recommend using our Surface cleaner 2800 for painted surfaces or our Surface Cleaner 2802 for bare metal. Surfaces should be keyed at each layer to maintain adhesion. Just prior to painting, wipe the surface with a Tack Rag to remove dust and other loose contaminants.
  • Aerosols. Aerosols in all colour variants are available. Special order aerosols are subject to a minimum order quantity of 4, you can order these directly  here.
  • Painting tips and advice. Check out our methods of use page, FAQ’s or YouTube Channel for lots of hints and tips. Alternatively, ask us your question on our Contact page.
